I had my DNA tested through Ancestry.com last year and I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was 1% Ghanaian or Ivorian. I would be happy to be cousins with Didier Drogba…but in case I am not, Ghanaian blood is quite fine! We do share a love of fabric. I am amazed at their beautiful batiks and kente.
My good friend Hilde Hoogwaerts moved to Ghana a couple of years ago and has been making beautiful quilts with fabrics from there. She sent me some batik and I decided to use one of them in this piece.
