In the mid 90’s we lived in Japan for a couple of years and it was there that my love affair with crafts and textiles found an outlet. At an ex-pat’s house soon after arriving I saw a most beautiful quilt hanging on the wall of their foyer. I had never seen anything like that before. It was a combination of traditional women’s work and artistry; and I wanted to do just that!
Beatriz O’Keefe and Ger Saleh taught me to piece in Yokohama in 1996 and I haven’t stopped quilting. Thank you for changing my life!!
Quilting is a social activity and in my travels since then I’ve met wonderful women who fill my life with generosity and creativity; quilters and artists with whom I share a love of textiles, crafts, and so much more.
My emphasis now is in textile art. I want to express ideas of loss, hope, resilience, connections…I need to tell my stories or give voice to others to tell their stories through my work.
